The boy with his arm around Warhol is Christian Lapanto. He was just about the cutest boy at Area. Now he lives in a tent under the Hollywood sign, and I see him every morning on Hollywood Blvd in front of the Starbucks. It's really depressing. He's NOT THAT CUTE ANYMORE. I had a copy of this picture, too, and I made him one, to remind him of better days. Poor little thing.
As I have always said, James, you are our Edith Wharton of that period. Not one person passed before your all-knowing eyes without being scrutinized, read, and filed. You are, I think, the fountain of info we'll draw on in the future for that period.
