"the" Mrs. Astor

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Mr. Astor dressed me up in my plaid boat shoes yesterday, a clever move as he knew I had been wanting to dash over the the beach for several days and would never do it in a pair of Ferragamos he purchased for me. Thus freed, I made it over the the begininings of the Southern Wine and Food Festival which begins on Thursday.
From as far as the eye could see to the south on our magnificent beach...

All those tents are IN MY WAY when I go for my run! I'm being forced to either bicycle or roller blade which, unfortunately, is just not the same. I'll be glad when they're gone!!! The amount of "beach space" taken over by the tents and fences seems to be growing exponentially every year and while I do think it's a great event (and directly affects our household income), there's something about cramming so many sheeple trying to "out-fabulous" one another inside those chain link fences that I find very unappealing, even if they do camouflage them with potted plants. Did they really need to start putting the tents up two weeks ago?!?! Seems to me they could have hired twice as many workers for half as many days and not been such an obstacle for those of us who use the beach on practically a daily basis. GRUMBLE!!!!! Oh yeah, and I wish they'd get those stinkin' boats moved out more quickly as well!! During the summer I long for the tourists and fresh faces to get to town, but by this time of year, I can't wait for season to be over so they can all go away!

You are absolutely right; those tents went up much too early, making me wish that strong windstorm las week would take them down. They've outpriced themselves for the locals and probably should be move to Boca since every time to try to get a piece of tuna with an olive on it you have to fight through ten over-donw women from Boca.

Mrs Astor, be sure to save room for dessert when The Northern Court is in town. Rumor has it that First Knight Sir Brian will be gracing us with his presence also! Let the fun begin!
