"the" Mrs. Astor

What do you know! Just when my sister is so high on her horse and actually in a position to judge my poor behavior at The Club, I find this gem. Don't you look glamorous there at the bottom (and I do mean bottom) of the staiirs, du Barry. Oh, I know, that was the Hookers' Ball benefit for the American Red Cross on the staircase of the Bellevue Avenue Elks Lodge that you organized. But, since you are so quick to pass judgement, I have one point to make. Edward VII, an early and important libertarian, once said of homosexuals, "I don't care what they do, as long as they don't scare the horses." Well, sister, my horse took one look at you in this picture and jumped over my rose bushes not to be seen again. Come back, Flicker.

Wow, is that really the interior of the Bellevue Avenue Elks Lodge? They must have lots more money than the Lions. Sort of makes me think of Betty Davis's Boston townhouse in "Now, Voyager." Or maybe a really good whore house.

Yeah, you'd have to add, "Only in Newport" to have an Elks Lodge, firstly, on Bellevue Avenue and , secondly, built like a Vanderbilt hunting lodge. I love the portrait on the wall.
