In his mind he knows very well that it was not all that long ago that they were at the gates of Vienna threatening the foundation of all that was civilized. However, he is convinced his good heart and great sense of humor will prevail when he ends his speech of piety and forgiveness with the famous ditty:

No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks'

He says his rendition will slay them.
