The Deluge
The forecast is for ten to twenty inches of rain, which will mean it will rapidly have no place to go. However, there is no sense of urgency or panic this year. The restaurants of Ocean Drive were packed late last night as was The Palace and it seems I was not the only one there to meet the cop from New Jersey. Black and Tan Mark had read my post, as had everyone's favorite army boy, Jeremy, and their friend Danny of The Evil Empire (The Bank of America). It seems everyone knew Mr. Policeman from previous visits and it became quite the party.
Every now and then a rain band blew in; rain bands last for about 5 minutes but movement stops. We all made a break for it about midnight when a particularly nasty one passed through. I noticed wild parrots flying south in large numbers this morning; they don't take chances.

so... do we have to follow them? (the parrots)
It reminds me of the news reports about how so few animals died in the tsunami's; their instinct warned them of danger while the stupid tourists ran toward the sea to watch. Lesson learned: if you see an elephant running away from the ocean, follow it.
Mrs. A-
Please stop the storms so I may visit soon. I need sunshine and warm weather when I'm enjoying my ketel one and sodas. Mark has sent me some real estate ads from Sunday's Miami Herald. I'm appointing you to my team of experts to help me find a place this Fall. If I don't find a condo on South Beach...You and Kiki, Jesse, Mark, and myself will have to chip in on a house. It will be like the Golden Girls! :) -B
Mrs! The clouds do look so gaudy on the radar picture. Although someone should chide them for wearing so much red. Love.

Uncle Alexis -
Being a Yankee who has never experienced a Southern Florida Hurricane/Tropical Storm we are all scared up here. I hope all is going well down there and you are keeping yourself safe. The news reports sounded really scary last night, but things seem to have calmed down this evening? I hope everything is ok. Take care of yourself!!! You don't want to get this Northerner too worried!!! :) ((((HUGS))))
Love Always,
Jesse :)
As hurricanes go, Katrina has been quite the lady to me (yes, I know, others will disagree with me, I'm sure). After receiving a priority call from Herr Ditmar alerting me to an impromptu hurricane party at the Palace, two K1 screwdrivers and a shot were had. It was an interesting sight for a hurricane virgin, and not because of the drinks - the skies were fluid with cloud bands passing overhead, rain coming through in waves, and ocean waves positively roiling from near hurricane force winds.
I left the Palace at a quarter to five in the afternoon, and had an uneventful ride back home save for a little hydroplaning on the MacArthur Causeway. The evening has been quite pleasant too; calls to and from close friends, letting them know all is well as I write this at 8:15pm. Winds, yes, rain, yes, and transient power, yes; but there has also been 20 minutes of calm as the eye of hurricane is passing overhead. Katrina, like Luck, may you be a lady tonight........
Sounds like it's time to batten down the hatches and break out the Barbour wax jackets Mrs. Astor. Be sure to stock up on the essentials ;-)
You are fucking gorgeous Bees!
(Hey, guys, she's not wearing any underwear.)
