What Ever Happened....
...to Brooke Astor. There's been a number of inquiries as to why I didn't post something about her situation. I did, but it was so bitter and damning that I deleted it the next day. It is a crime, that's all, and where were the powerful friends? Out to lunch. One more piece of depressing news.

I agree, it is depressing and very, very sad. But it is also an object lesson in how easily and quickly powerful "friends" disappear. She gave and gave but then was apparently forgotten. You have to hope that she has one real friend. As for family...
It's sad, but I guess even the wealthy are not immune to elder abuse. This kind of thing goes on every day in families less fortunate.
Personally, I think Mrs. (Brooke) Astor's son has a serious axe to grind, perhaps a personal vendetta, perhaps disenchantment because she shut down the foundation, or perhaps just garden variety avarice is afoot.
104 years of age... she deserves much better treatment.
