Florida Republican Representative, Mark Foley, is up to his neck to doo-doo. His sensational Instant Messages to a 16-year-old page requesting details of masturbatory techniques not only prompted his immediate resignation from The House, but has put the Republican leaders on a slash-and-burn defensive. Seems too many knew too much too early to escape this debacle. And so refreshing just five weeks away from the election.
Republican leaders announced today that "they are creating a toll-free hot line for pages". How noble. I was once cited by the Pool Boy Brotherhood for appearing at mid-day in this outfit. The marked distinction here is that it was certainly wrong for mid-day, but my watch was off (and that is what the official transcript reveals.) Foley's time is up and he has vacated yet one more seat in The Opera House of Representative.

As I noted, the real stuff isn't even out yet -- did Foley have actual sexual contact with any of the boys? If tidbits keep leaking out day by day, the GOP is going to have a huge problem. And, as you say, it is obvious that the Leadership has handled the entire affair very badly. It is tittilating stuff, but let's have some concern for the victims -- we can always burn the perpetrator(s).
So, now the FBI is involved. It sounds like the fat cats in DC have had a harumphing session (or two)... (Gentlemen, our cushey jobs are on the line -- harumph, harumph)
This is what you were wearing when that happened? Peasants! Don't they know that a beaded bra is all the rage now? And I'm sure your ample breasts weren't even mentioned in the transcripts. Damn republicans!

The foley scandal is being blown way out of proportion. The media and the whole country is drooling about this one. Our society is fucked at all sides, the left and the right and the in-between. I think I will turn off my TV and go hiking in the Sierra's.
